Oil Refinery Monitoring Can Continue even During Hurricane Gustov by using Harmonic Footprinting
(National PR Wire - September 1, 2008) | Industry and Country : Oil & Gas | United States of America
Harmonic Footprinting LLC. and its founder, Frank Masyada, have announced Harmonic Footprinting and their patent pending Thermal Cycling to monitor oil refineries during a hurricane, even Hurricane Gustov, or any other tropical storm. For more detailed information, see Frank Masyada\\\’s website:

In the Gulf Coast oil refineries that do not have Harmonic Footprinting are now closed during Hurricane Gustov. At least 1.56 million barrels of oil daily which is nearly 9.8 percent of the U.S. total domestic oil production are shut without being monitored during Hurricane Gustov. There are 7 refineries completely shut down, and 5 refineries operating with reduced capacity output.
70 percent of the personnel on the platforms and derricks in the Gulf are evacuated, The U.S. Minerals Management Service announcement released that roughly 1.25 million barrels / day of oil, and 6.09 billion cubic feet of gas are shut down. This is more than 96% of the offshore oil output and 82% of the gas output. Sabine Pipe Line LLC, belonging to Chevon, shut down its pipelines.
The Gulf of Mexico is just about 26% of all U.S. oil per day and 14% of natural-gas. The Gulf produces 1.3 million barrels of oil daily with 7.4 billion cubic feet. This information is from the U.S. Department of the Interior.
Houw can Harmonic Footprinting assist oil refinineries during Hurricane Gustov?
Harmonic Footprinting LLC. and Frank Masyada, its founder, have engineered Smart Sensors with associated software that can review, analyze and monitor the situation on oil rigs risk of faulty operations because of Metal Fatigue.
Metals have a molecular structure that when handling environmental stimulants (hurricane, wind, snow), create a dominant resonant Frequency, a number of minor resonant Frequencies and Amplitude that can be graphically reviewed. These Frequencies and Amplitudes are dependent on a number of factors such as the forming process, heat treatment and quench, machining, elemental exposure and other outside factors.
SmartSensors are located on metal joints throughout the oil refinery. When the refinery is struck by a stimulant, the resulting Amplitude is transmitted by the SmartSensor to the resident software database. This transmission gives a unique Harmonic Footprint for that particular metal location on the derrick.
After a set of Harmonic Footprints is recorded, the derrick is monitored 24/7, with new Footprints continuously being transmitted. When new Footprints do not match the recorded Footprint (within an acceptable range), an alarm is sent from the software displaying the location of the derrick requiring manual inspection.
Oil Rig Assistance: How would Harmonic Footprinting have helped oil refineries during Hurricane Gustov? Harmonic Footprints would have been made available before, during, and just after Hurricane Gustov. Instead of needing to wait until Hurricane Gustov passed through in order to inspect the refinery prior to placing it back in service, derrick personnel would have known just what needed to be manually inspected and/or replaced, even before the hurricane left.
