Penn State IE Introduces Strategic Plan for Global Leadership in Industrial Engineering

University Park, Pa. – The Harold and Inge Marcus Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering has recently introduced its five-year strategic plan for global leadership which details goals that will enable the program to be internationally recognized for excellence in education and research.
The Penn State IE Strategic Plan outlines an ambitious mission through the next five years by identifying goals, strategies and metrics for success in the areas of global competency education, international faculty development, innovative research advancement and outreach process enhancement. These goals represent what must be done across the department to prepare internationally cultured students, achieve internationally renowned faculty status, accelerate establishment of globally networked research programs and promote excellence in all areas of industrial engineering.
Through the strategic plan, Penn State IE confirms its commitment to preparing world-class industrial engineers for the global economy.
Founded in 1909, the Harold and Inge Marcus Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering is the oldest industrial engineering department in the nation and currently ranks as a top five program in the country. With a roster of 25 student-oriented faculty members, Penn State IE focuses on quality, hands-on education and concentrates on addressing today’s most pressing issues through innovative research in our state-of-the-art facilities.
